Mayor & Board of Alderman

The City of Tarkio Missouri is a fourth-class city of 1583 residents (2010 US Census). The Board of Alderman and Mayor are the governing body of the City of Tarkio. The four Board members are elected at-large, are non-partisan, and they serve staggered two-year terms. The Mayor is elected for a two-year term also, and appoints a Vice-President which is approved by the Board a one year-term.

The Board of Aldermen are responsible for formulating policies and providing direction to the staff through the Mayor and Aldermen. The board members may also serve as advocates for the City, such as the NW Missouri Regional Council of Governments, and others.
